  • About The Role

  • Job Purpose 

    As an Employee Experience Officer, you will support in creating an engaging work environment that fosters happier, healthier, more fulfilled employee journeys for our peopleThis will begin from the moment of initial attraction to work at AFG through the entire employee life cycle. 

    Your overarching aim is for our people to feel that AFG is a great place to work. 

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities 

    • To promote a culture of trust and engagement through active listening and action to create amazing employee experiences at all stages of the employee life cycle (hire-to-retire) 

    • Support the development and maintenance of our digital employee on-boarding platform to create engaging and informative introductions for new hires about their role and life at AFG as they approach their first day. 

    • To deliver engaging Inductions for all new hires to the charity – creating amazing first impressions about working here. 

    • Working with the Learning & OD Team, you will actively contribute to the Induction Pathway for operational colleagues with regular touchpoints during the first year of service to ensure that our new hires remain engaged, supported and recognised for their achievements. 

    • To develop and undertake regular opportunities for new hires to ‘have a voice’ during their first year of employment – This will include the development of pulse surveys and engagement points for cohorts of new hires as their first year progresses to understand any challenges / blockages or areas for improvement that we can make to raise satisfaction, engagement and retention. 

    • To provide coaching and guidance to managers on conducting effective probation periods, getting the best out of new hires, and how to put in place supportive development plans when required. 

    • To contribute to the development and promotion of our broader Employee Value Proposition in line with objectives of our People & OD Strategy. 

    • To contribute to the development and promotion of Employee Wellbeing Offer in line with objectives of our People & OD Strategy. 

    • In collaboration with the Comms & Marketing Team, develop and deliver a communication plan for raising awareness of our Employee Value, and Employee Wellbeing Offers, and the benefits of great employee experiences. 

    • To work collaboratively with the Learning & OD Team to understand and respond to our Employee Engagement or Pulse Surveys – Making recommendations for how we can improve our engagement scores, the development of action plans, and the development of operational resources to positively impact employee experiences. 

    • To coach and provide learning opportunities for leaders within the organisation on the importance of positive employee experiences, and the impact to teams, services, the charity of getting this wrong. 

    • As a people professional, you will be expected to maintain your professional knowledge and competence within this fieldYou will support the development of AFG policy, procedure, practice, information resources and communications on employee experience related activities.

     

    Person specification Essential Requirements - please only apply if you meet the criteria:
    Experience
    • Previous experience of working within a Human Resources or Learning & OD role. 
    • Experience of presenting to different audiences verbally, in writing, or in presentation formats. 
    • Experience of supporting colleagues to create improvements in employee engagement, experience, or interaction. 
    • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement based on research, analysis, interpreting data and stakeholder feedback.
    Skills and Knowledge
    • Excellent interpersonal skills – friendly, approachable, and professional. 
    • Experience of contributing to the development of Employee Value or Employee Wellbeing Offers 
    • Confident communicator/presenter with the ability to relate to our people at all levels. 
    • Ability to develop strong working relationships. 
    • Good planning, time management and organisational skills.  
    • Ability to prioritise workloads and work to deadlines. 
    • Excellent written skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to adapt style to audience. 
    • Ability to work as part of a team. 
    • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office suite. 
     Qualifications
    • Formal coaching or training qualification, or relevant work experience
    This role is home based and involves occasional travel within the northwest of England, we can only accept applications from residents of the northwest. With our extended flexible working options, you can also choose to work a 9-day fortnight or a 4.5-day week, supporting our employees with their work life balance.

    This role is Band I as per our structure.
